Rhonna and I became friends in 2004 when we won a contest together. She is the kind of friend if you don't see for a long time you can immediately pick up where you left off. She is genuine and sincere, filled with faith and just a tiny bundle of energy whom I greatly admire. You can see a couple of other posts here: CKU (terribly unflattering photos, sorry Rhonna, but such a fun night) and RootsTech 2015 for some Allison-Rhonna relationship.
Last night Rhonna's newly redesigned website (RhonnaDesigns.com) went live and after some sneak peeks this last week, I have been so excited to talk about it. I adore the direction she is taking her site. Her emphasis and family history and telling your personal story is a passion for Rhonna, and she is sharing ideas and classes (videos) that are inspiring.
Another reason I am sharing, besides just the plain awesomeness of the site, is that a few months ago I became one of Rhonna's friend designers with her app: RhonnaDesigns (If you decide to get her apps I would get the bundle with all three, not sales pitch. I just purchased them individually, and they are a little less expensive in the bundle.) . It all started with the family history bingo cards that I made a few years ago (you can find the download here and coordinating matching game here). I am very new to Rhonna's app even though it's been around for a few years, released in July of 2013. Remember I'm a paper girl and moving into technology, although I love it and use it every day has been a slow process for me. I love the physical nature of creating with my hands.
As I sat one day listening to Rhonna share some of the ways she uses her app to do family history I knew this was an answer on how to create the bingo cards a little more quickly. You can find a video tutorial on how to create the bingo cards here. Rhonna has a fun messy version as well as my family history cards.
TECHNICAL NOTE: When creating the bingo cards in collage you need to flip the maintain layout aspect. This switch called “maintain layout aspect” controls how frames are stretched and spaced with aspect ratio changes. When setting my bingo layout, you’ll want that switch on so that the frames don’t stretch.
Using Rhonna's app has been the fastest way to create the bingo cards. I can sit in the car and with my file of family photos downloaded to my phone and make card after card while I'm waiting for the carpool or doctor. It's such a great way to use my waiting time.
Before we continue, I want to make sure to say that you will always have access to my downloads and content free here on my site. I understand that Rhonna's app is something you have to pay for as well as my design packs. I would never want things to be a financial hardship for anyone. I want things I create to be for anyone to use no matter who you are, so I will always keep the content here free, but the ability to do something create and document your life from a device you always have with you is wonderful.
Sign up; it's free.
Using the drop down menu find the download button.
In order your you to download the lists you need to be on your device that has the app. I watched Rhonna's videos and signed up online using my computer. These links will only work on your device that has the RhonnaDesign app.
Then download the desired prompts into the app. They will be in the background section. Print and design as desired.
Rhonna is creating a family history planner using the #52STORIES prompts. This video in the Tell Your Story gives you a little teaser of what is to come. In the next week or two, she will be sharing more about her planner and how she will be documenting her 52STORIES.
Your family and personal history can start in your back pocket or wherever you keep your cell phone, and it can bless the lives of many.
