If you follow my social media accounts (Instagram or facebook) you might have noticed a new addition to our family photos and captions that read something like this:
"One of the boys asked him the other day, "do you know how lucky you are to be with Whitney?" It's good he is a pretty amazing guy because another one of the boys lamented about being too small to intimidate. Thankfully he added, "at least when Loaf is older no one will dare come around."
"It was interesting to have her walk in thinking about one style dress and leaving with something completely different. I loved watching Whitney's expressions with each dress, but my mother heart cherished the interaction between the sisters. How they love and support on another is truly beautiful . (This has been on my phone for a while, waiting until I got the okay to share.)"
"My baby girl.
The man who has promised to love and protect her.
My family is growing."
Meet Andrew. He's a pretty amazing young man and has managed to capture the heart and trust of our darling Whitney.
He came over one Sunday as part of his assignment to be her home teacher and never left. Quite literally. He stayed for lunch; leftovers so we know the food was not a draw, not to mention the chaos of all the children. He came back the next day and then the next and the rest is history. He has endured a vicious game of "Settlers of Catan" where everyone was ganged up against him. He has endured threats from little small boys and then there is Loaf....
Loaf does not like him and has been quite mean to him. Finally one day last week in a fit of despair she said, "First Whitney does on a mission and now Andrew is going to take her away!" Poor little one has only known constant change. I was so proud of her for articulating her feelings so that we could help her understand that she is not losing Whitney but is gaining a brother. To which she rolled her eyes and said, "ANOTHER ONE?"
As we all move to a new stage in our lives, I am grateful for a young man who has kept his covenants with God. One who is faithful in his dedication to the Lord and one who cherishes my daughter. He is so good to her and she adores him. Together they are sickeningly sweet and mushy and the other children are constantly making gagging sounds... it's perfection.
