A few weeks ago Gus competed in a state equestrian event. Havoc, appropriately named, has made huge strides under Gus' tutelage and training.
It was fun to see them compete, although Gus' choice to introduce a new racing reign at this event cost them some time, but that is Gus' personality. She likes to do things in her own time and way. I don't say this negatively, she is kind, respectful and intelligent. She's just not concerned with status and recognition. She competes to push herself and Havoc, to learn and grow. It's beautiful to watch.
She was quite embarrassed by the unsolicited attention about her physique and beauty. One mother, with her handsome son, openly told her she was the most beautiful girl at the competition. I think Gus was hoping the ground would swallow her up.
I marveled at all the preparation, work and time spent for less than a minute of competing. An entire day spent on the speed events and as I totaled up all her scores the time wasn't even 1 minute.
I love watching her with her horse. The bond is strong and her skill is exceptional. I hope she will always find joy riding.
