Whitney has two more weeks in the mission field. It's crazy to imagine having her home again. I will cry. You can read her letters home here.
Dash had his birthday this week. We were up in Heber the day before his birthday and went to dinner with all the families, and when Dash got his complementary piece of cake he went around and gave everyone a bite. He is a sweet little boy quite often.
Park City was fun. One day we went on the Heber Creeper. As part of the program at a certain point two train robbers came on and had a little fun with everyone. One of the robbers was an old man. He asked Grandma if she was Texas Kate and if they had danced together on the top of a table once. Then he looked at Grandpa and said, "Who's this? I think you were under the table." When they first came on they asked everyone to raise their hands above their head. The whole thing traumatized Loaf. After the robbers were gone she still had her hands up, and she whispered to me, "Can I take my hands down Daddy?" During the middle of the robbery Brick at one point said to the main robber in an indignant tone, "Excuse me!"
Another day we did wave runners. I am developing a reputation as the craziest driver because I go petal to the metal and do as many jumps over wakes and other maneuvers as possible. Near the end of the day I asked Brick if he wanted to go again and go fast. He said, "I like to go fast, but not maniac fast."
We also swam a lot. The three youngest are all very good swimmers. Even Loaf. She wore goggles and swam a lot with her face under the water, swimming from me to Fred to Gus to Arnold. Of course she is a sassy little girl and would quite often after swimming to one of us give a look of disdain and then splash us with a slight backhanded swipe through the water. She is a delight.
Well, Summer vacation is over in one week, and then everyone will be going back to school. This year we will have at least one child at every school level from preschool to college.
Well, I love you so much. You are the best. I was asked to give a talk today about how having a missionary in the field has blessed our family. I talked about your ability to love others and about what it means to be a true friend like Ammon was to King Lamoni, continuing that friendship even after a person's conversion, like Ammon who remained King Lamoni's friend all their lives and probably still is his friend now. I also read one of my favorite scriptures in 1 Thessalonians 2:3-8.
I love you and pray for you always.
