There are the steps for me to be successful in blogging, meaning to publish regular posts:
- I keep a running list of things I want to talk about or write about, usually in a planner.
- I have at any point about 50 posts in various written forms. Writing is not a natural strength and even when I do publish something it is riddled with editorial mistakes, but I am trying to learn and grow. Most posts are the daily comings and goings of our family.
- Take necessary photos to accompany certain planned posts. This is often a glitch for me primarily because I forget. I need to do better.
- I don't blog every day. I don't have time to sit at the computer every day. So I generally choose a fairly large block of time where I will edit photos and create a weeks worth of posts, scheduling the dates.
It's a pretty basic set up. Nothing fancy, but over the years it has worked. There are the occasional posts that I write and publish on the same day, but they are rare and often come out of necessity. Today's post is a prime example. I had a few minutes this morning to log in a check the blog only to find out that none of the posts were published for the week. I had forgotten to add publishing dates and set the automatic feature built into the blog. So even the best laid plans fail.
