Fred chose Frida Kahlo as her artist to highlight in one of her art projects this past spring. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her get excited and study Frida. Fred's only exposure prior was a delicious bistro that we like to eat at on special occasions. The bistro is filled with wonderful Frida inspired art and delicious food of course.
Fred filled the completed shoe box with items that represented Frida and her life. I thought about what to do with this fun project when she was finished and Fred didn't have any desires, or none that she voiced so I decided to add it to my growing collection of art projects in my studio.
I wish I had been more vigilant about keeping the wonderful treasures the big girls made and brought home, but I was more concerned with trying to achieve a magazine looking home. I didn't value what was really important and small treasures they really were. Most were broken from small hands playing with them which I suppose is also a beautiful thing. Now however I have a growing collection is misshapen bowls and vases. I have delightful masks and even a wide mouth frog. My studio has become the home for all these treasures and Fred's Frida box has joined the ranks adding to my happy place.
