I vacillated back and forth on creating a December Daily album. At the time I was so inspired by what everyone was doing, especially Ali and decided to jump in at the beginning of January after I printed all the photos off. I started by keeping the cover simple. I was going to keep the entire album simple, but somehow it somehow got away from me.
The album and kit were from StudioCalico. It was nice to not have to think about the supplies, although by the end I was tired and wishing I had more variety and ended up adding additional things. I loved using the gold accents and it's fun to see gold become popular again. You can see my ending page at the bottom of this post.
I won't bother showing you all the layouts, most of the stories and photos you have already seen here. Most of the pages came together easily because I loved the project life cards that were included in the kit.
Embellishing many of the cards was simple and came together quickly. It was nice to use add a little from the ridiculously large ribbon stash I have. What was I thinking?
I cut and sewed page protectors to add space and flaps for many of the layouts.
I included random events that I might not have otherwise included into our normal family scrapbooks.
I created transparent elements to add visual interest and used more glitter than I ever thought I would use in my lifetime. Glitter is fun.
I really disliked this sunburst card until I added the glitter to the sunburts. I use cheap glittle glue and have been pleased with the results. I didn't have any expectations so that might have helped.
I also pulled out many of my old supplies. Old chipboard elements, using up my stash... perfect situation.
The layout themes and colors were all over the place depending on the day I was scrapbooking. I wasn't overly concerned with keeping a theme to tie everything together.
By the end of the album I wondered why I had bothered. I found myself duplicating so many things in our family scrapbook and doing two of everything was getting old. I don't know if I will make another December daily in the future. I might just incorporate more fun elements into our regular scrapbooks. However Loaf has loved looking at this smaller album... good thing I don't have to make any decisions right now.
