I came across Kerri Bradford's site last month and I loved the idea of her history project class. To write once a week and start filling in my personal history. I know that is what I'm doing with this blog anyway, but including stories from my past would be a wonderful addition for the children. They love it when we talk about what we were like in our youth.
The first prompt was writing about who we are right now. My about page was in dire need of some attention (the old page) so I used this opportunity to add new photos and such. It's nothing new if you know me and have been around for a while, but I'm adding it here today.
I don't know if I will follow her prompts each week, but I hope to do something each week.
I have researched that an effective "about me" page contains and this page doesn't follow any of the guidelines.
I'm just me.
I don't have the desire to impress you with my résumé. I don't want you to come away thinking I'm spectacular or anything other than just an ordinary woman trying to live an extraordinary life. I'm just me, Allison Kimball.
I have a wonderful life. It's full of ups and downs. It's a journey that I am thrilled to share with my ever patient and amazing husband John. He is intelligent, thoughtful, kind, and loving. This list could go on and on and on. He's incredible. Everything he does he does for our family and God.
This is our family. We are the parents to nine of the most spectacular children, first 4 are biological and last 5 are adopted (family planning post). They fill our lives with happiness and drama. They make us crazy and laugh all in the same moments. They are tender and loving. They argue and fight. They learn from us, but mostly they teach us. I keep this record primarily for them.
Rock, Brick, Dash, and Tank. The male brain is a mystery to me. I don't understand the way these lovely men of mine think, but I love them and together they are teaching me the ins and outs of what it means to be a boy.
A couple of years ago, Ellie, our Australian Labradoodle, joined the family. She is our first dog and has been an interesting addition to our family. She seems to like it here with us and has taught us wonderful things about dogs. We love her, even when she is stinky or destroys things she shouldn't.
I am a Christian and give all glory and honor to our Savior Jesus Christ. I would be nothing without Him. I am a Mormon (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). This encompasses everything I am and everything I hope to be. I love to talk about things I learn and how the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life. If you would like a free copy of my favorite book: The Book Of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, please go here. I would love to send you one.
You will find that I talk about everything and anything here....
the food we like to eat (working on a family recipe book that I document here at simple food).
quilting. My favorite hobby. It's a slow process, but one that brings me great satisfaction.
I dabble in photography. I want to be an artist someday. I love snuggling with the children reading books. I do laundry and look for missing socks. I clean up messes and work on homework. I make lists and cross them off. I look forward to date nights, going to the temple, and time with my children.
This is all part of who I am. I am constantly changing.
Thank you for joining me in the journey. If you can any questions please feel free to email me.
