I found an old notebook while I was cleaning through my scrapbooking supplies the other day. De-junking, thinning, organizing: essential things to do periodically in our home. As I opened the pages memories flooded my mind of what seemed like another lifetime. One of the little girls drew all these smiley guys. I wish I had written down who it was.
Not sure if this little guy has tears coming out of his eyes or dots on his nose, either way I was more excited to take his picture than any of my other note pages in the book before I threw it away. I'm sentimental enough to photograph a few of my favorite pages, if only with my phone but not enough to keep the clutter of the notebook.
This particular notebook contained layout ideas, inspiration, and thoughts about projects requested either by the magazines, manufacturers, or the garden (at twopeasinabucket.com). I would sketch out my ideas, write down some journaling ideas, plan, and then cross things out when I was finished. It was fun to see HOF on several pages. The children still laugh and love to tell people I'm a Hall of Famer, of course when they find out it was for scrapbooking they just roll their eyes; a reasonable response. I wonder if they have even have that contest anymore.?
Now, I still have notebooks. That has not changed. I'm a copious note taker, but my sketches and such are part of my journal. Blog posts and digital kit ideas can often be found amidst the moments I would like to remember, the blessings that fill my life, and God's tender mercies I notice in our daily moments. I often wonder how much of God's hand I do not recognize?
My phone has become a notebook of sorts. It is currently my primary source of jotting things down, silly things the children say, notes from classes, and moments of wonder that I want to think about later.
However in this day of electronic everything, there is nothing quite like pulling out a clean sheet of paper and a pen and just writing, doodling. Filling a page with nothingness and everything. November brought a simple gratitude calendar. I tried to find 3 unique blessings from the day. It was amazing to see at a glance all the many way the Lord blesses our lives.
It makes me excited to tackle some of the storage boxes downstairs. I have years and years of notebooks to sort through at some point. I wonder what treasure I have hidden. Of course it will have to stay hidden a little while longer until I can make time to tackle that project. I have a few other things that feel more pressing right now.
