My children love balloons, especially when it's a birthday. However, I'm often not very good about planning ahead and ordering helium balloons, this might stem from my issue of hearing balloons pop. It's like fingernails on a chalk board for me, just weird that way.
So back to the instant party, quite a while ago my darling cousin Samantha posted her brilliant idea about fake/frugal helium balloons. It has been the prefect solution for us.
I still haven't found any lovely big balloons, just the cheap grocery store variety, but the end result has been so fun and festive. The children love helping blow up the balloons and attaching them to the ceiling. For me, I can keep all the supplies in the cupboard and be ready for an instant party.
We have found that packing tape works best and the paint on the ceiling is still looking great. The beautiful thing about these balloons, they stay looking wonderful for weeks. We recently tested it when two of the children had their birthdays a couple of weeks apart! It was a party everyday for 2 weeks.
Thanks Samantha for the great idea!
This link is from a site that hangs the balloons upside down, fun variation. It would be far too tempting for my boys to pop so I think we will stick to Samantha's version.
