As you walk in our home you immediately see our stair case and banisters. Every year since we moved in we have decorated the railings with the Christmas cards we have received and the stockings I have been knitting.
Until Loaf came along.
No matter how much we we discipline the cards are ripped from the ribbons and loved by Loaf. Rather than continue the fight we decided to make something less destructible, at least that is the hope because with 4 boys who bear destruction in their middle names I don't have too much hope.
For the past two weeks we have been winding yarn around these pom pom makers (love them and they are readily available in most craft stores), even the big boys have helped making a pompom or 4. All the girls pitched in as we needed quite a few to string on both sides of our railings.
The boys had a great time using the pom poms as snowballs and there were quite a few pom pom wars.
The finished garland.
I was hoping it would have the same feeling as the felted wool garland (that we made for the tree), but I don't know. It is fun and the boys use it as an imaginary track for their space ships and cars.
